Get Paid to Play Video Games with PlaytestCloud
If you love playing video games on your phone, then PlaytestCloud is the perfect opportunity to get paid to do so. Game developers need people to help test out the usability of new games. The best thing that you can do to help is to voice your opinion while getting paid for your help!
How does it work?
After completing the form to become a PlaytestCloud tester, the first test will last about 5 minutes and is used to get you oriented to how Playtestcloud works. This serves as a qualification test. Regular tests will be 20-30 minutes long, but this qualification is only to give you a chance to see get a feel of what it will be like getting paid to test games. The qualification test went very smoothly and they notified me that I was accepted as a tester just under two hours after I had submitted my qualification test. I received an invitation to my first test about five days later.

You MUST use headphones in order to test so that the recording is only of you and your thoughts and feedback. Right off the bat, one of the potential issues I noticed is that there is currently no support for Bluetooth listening devices. You must either have an adapter or use wired headphones. Wireless headphones and earphones are currently not eligible to be used for testing. I am hoping that support for this is something that will be added in the future.
Who is eligible?
At the moment, most of the game developers are interested in players from the USA, UK and Canada. However, the website says that there may be opportunities for those outside of these areas.
All of the following devices are currently eligible to be used:
- Computer – Any computer that has the Google Chrome browser installed works for playtesting – just make sure it has a microphone!
- Android – Android Phone/Tablet with Android 5 Lollipop or better (except Amazon Fire Tablets)
- iOS 10, 11 or 12 – iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, iPad Pro (any model), iPad Air (any model), iPad mini (4th generation and newer), iPad (2017 – 2018), iPod Touch 6G
How will I know when a test is available?
When a new test is available for one of your registered devices, you will receive an email. It is best to respond quickly to emails as each test has a specific number of participants/respondents that are needed.
How much will I get paid?
Per the website, a 15 minute playtest and survey will pay generally $9 (via PayPal). However, payment amount can vary depending on the test.
