What is Honey?

Honey is a free extension for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera that tries to help you save as much money as possible while shopping online by automatically looking for and applying coupon codes to your order. If you shop online and like saving money, you need to start using the Honey browser extension.

How does it work?

honey_bestbuyWhen you go to a shopping website such as Amazon or Best Buy, the Honey button will light up with the number of offers and coupon codes that are presently available (pictured to the left). You can then scroll through to see them before or after you have added items to your cart. You can also see a list of “trending stores” which are the most popular stores of the hour updated every hour.

Besides providing you with a list of coupon codes and offers, there are a lot of other great benefits and features.

Searching for the Lowest Prices

While I was on Amazon looking for golf tees, Honey actually notified me that I could get them for less from another seller because it factored in Prime availability, tax and shipping. Here is exactly what I saw:

Automatically Applying Coupon Codes

Below is a video I made of Honey automatically searching for the best coupon to apply to my Amazon.com order. This is really convenient and it takes out the hassle of having to enter every coupon manually.

Offering Cash Bonuses

Honey offers cash bonuses for shopping at certain stores. I have not tried this feature yet, but after you place your order, they will email you a few days after you check out with your shopping bonus.

Honey Gift Card Deals

Honey offers gift deals where you can get a discounted gift card and save even more money. All gift cards are purchased using PayPal, so you can even use PayPal Credit and pay for your purchase over time while saving money!

Droplist

One of the coolest features about Honey is the ability to add items to a droplist. Essentially, you add the items that you want to purchase to a list and for 60 days, Honey will monitor any changes in price and notify you. You can even see trends in pricing down to the exact day an item was a cheaper or more expensive price than it is at the moment. Honey will actually email you as soon as the price is found to be lower so that you can get the best deal you can! Alternatively, you can go to the Honey website and see all of your droplists from every website where you have created one. In the example picture to the left on Amazon, I had set Honey to watch the item for the next 61 days and alert me when the price is below the threshold I set. I have saved a good amount of money with this extension on several sites including Amazon and Group.

HoneyGold

HoneyGold is a program that allows you to earn money for referring your friends. You earn 5% when they sign up and make their first qualifying purchase. Learn more about the program here.

Honey Travel (Discontinued)

Honey Travel was a unique opportunity to gain access to savings on hotels just for using the Honey extension. You could collect HoneyKeys which are used to unlock exclusive discounts on hotel rates. HoneyKeys are then used to browse and compare exclusive hotel rates available only to Honey members. The hotel can then be booked using your HoneyKey.
