I’m back with a new review of a credit reporting company called WalletHub. As you know, it is becoming more and more essential that you have a good credit score in today’s world. According to U.S. News, your credit score can determine the cost of future purchases, your ability to qualify for loans, and a number of other things. I’ve been using WalletHub for the past few months to keep track of my credit score and I wanted to share my experience.
What is WalletHub?
WalletHub is a personal finance website that offers free credit scores and reports along with suggestions on a number of other ways to improve your overall financial situation. The website is owned by a company called Evolution Finance, Inc. which is based in Washington, D.C. Check out this brief promotional video:
Is it actually free and trustworthy?
Yes, WalletHub is completely 100% free. You will never be charged for anything at any time. Check out some reviews from current users on Trustpilot.
What are the features and services?
The biggest benefit of WalletHub is having your credit score updated on a daily basis. WalletHub offers a credit analysis, alerts and credit report. In credit analysis, you’ll be able to see the importance of different factors such as payment history, account age, diversity and credit utilization and how they factor into your overall credit score. Alerts will contain important credit alerts that need your attention. They could come at any time since the service monitors 24×7. You can view, print or email yourself a PDF copy of your credit report at any time. All credit information is provided by TransUnion.
In addition to these principal features, WalletHub offers a realm to get answers from financial experts, calculators, WalletLiteracy and articles and studies. WalletLiteracy is a cool quiz that let’s you test your financial knowledge and literacy. WalletHub also has offers a directory of attorneys, banks & credit unions, financial advisers and firms, insurance companies and brokers, and mortgage brokers and companies. I can tell you from personal experience that their website really is jam-packed with tons of helpful resources and you should definitely take the time to explore and discover which resources will specifically be helpful to you.
What does the mobile app offer?
Within the app, you can view your credit score daily, credit analysis, view your “wallet” which contains your accounts and loans, make a future plan, view your alerts and see your credit report.
I’ve had a great experience with WalletHub thus far and I love being able to see my credit score whenever I want. Since I am currently planning to lease a car very soon, I have been using the tools under the “Buy a Car” section pictured to the left. I did forget my password once and when I tried to login on my phone right after logging in with my computer, the system remembered the recent failed attempt and wanted to make sure that I was who I said was and not a robot. I thought that this was a nice piece of added security.
